LifeLoad vs Fantastical
Fantastical is a calendar client. It renders your existing Google, iCloud, and Exchange calendars in a polished native interface with natural-language input, openings, and reminders. LifeLoad is a different layer. It does not replace your calendar. It reads from Google Calendar, captures cognitive load after each meeting, auto-detects unscheduled Zoom, Teams, Meet, Slack Huddles, Webex, and FaceTime calls, and tells you whether the schedule itself is sustainable. Fantastical shows the day. LifeLoad measures the cost of the day.

The meetings Fantastical cannot show you
Fantastical renders calendar events. If a colleague pings you on Slack and you jump on a 45 minute huddle, that call never lands on the calendar. Fantastical never sees it. LifeLoad detects unscheduled Zoom, Teams, Meet, Slack Huddles, Webex, and FaceTime calls at the system level on Mac, so the real shape of your week is finally measurable . not just the meetings someone bothered to create an event for.
A pretty calendar does not tell you how it felt
Fantastical lets you triage events faster. It does not tell you which kinds of meetings drain you. LifeLoad asks you to rate each meeting 1 to 5 after it ends. Over weeks, that signal becomes the actual map of where your week goes . heavy strategy syncs, lighter status updates, recurring meetings that should be killed. You can have a beautiful calendar and still be quietly burning out. LifeLoad catches that.
Burnout trajectory, recovery time, after-hours creep
LifeLoad tracks burnout trajectory over time and measures recovery: buffer minutes between meetings, whether lunch survived, end-of-day decompression. It flags weekend and after-hours meeting creep as it happens, not in retrospect. For org leaders it surfaces anonymized churn risk drawn from real schedule data. Fantastical is a window onto the calendar. LifeLoad is the dashboard for whether the calendar is wearing you down.
Different categories, complementary in practice
Fantastical is a calendar client. LifeLoad is a calendar health layer. The two do not compete . they sit at different points in the stack. You can keep Fantastical as your daily calendar surface and run LifeLoad in the background to measure load, defend focus blocks, and flag the patterns that lead to burnout. Many LifeLoad users do exactly that.
See the schedule, then measure it
Fantastical and LifeLoad answer different questions. Fantastical shows what is on the calendar. LifeLoad tells you whether the calendar is sustainable.
